The Meaning of Dagny
Dagny is influenced by the book “Atlas Shrugged”, in which “Dagny” is the first name of the main protagonist. She carries all of the responsibilities within the novel.
According to Greek Mythology, Atlas was a Titan who was tasked with holding the celestial sky (often depicted as the Earth) on his shoulders for all of eternity. Because of this, “Atlas” is also a metaphorical description for someone who carries excessive responsibilities. An atlas is also known in cartography as a collection of maps.
Like Dagny and Atlas the Titan, we all carry the massive weight of varying responsibilities on our shoulders that is influenced by our experiences, relationships, identities, communities, and so on. However, we aren’t always given a cartographical atlas to manage it all, so we sometimes feel alone in shouldering the weight.
One of the biggest indicators of strength is not carrying the world all alone, but instead taking the challenging first steps in seeking guidance; receiving the right support, system, and a personalized map of tailored strategies to help you successfully, and effectively, manage the heaviness.
Here at Dagny Counseling, our framework is rooted in these various meanings as it pertains to your strengths, responsibilities, systems, and path forward.
With you being your own Dagny and titan, we are here to collaborate with you on developing a unique atlas to help you manage the weight of your world.
